Steps to follow for Safe Isolation

Step 1

Identify
Potential Hazards

We begin by thoroughly assessing your workplace to identify potential hazards and control devices. This involves marking or labeling all energy sources to understand where and how to apply Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures effectively.

Step 2

Notify
Affected Employees

Before any energy source is turned off, we ensure that all affected employees are informed about the upcoming changes. This step is crucial for maintaining safety and ensuring that everyone is aware of the lockout process.

Step 3

Isolate
Energy Sources

We isolate all identified energy sources by blocking, bleeding, and venting stored energy from systems such as springs, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This step ensures that all sources of energy are safely controlled.

Step 4

Lockout / Tagout

Our team applies lockout/tagout devices to all switches and energy controls, placing them in the “OFF” or safe position. This prevents any accidental activation or re-energization of equipment during maintenance.

Step 5

Test All Operating Controls

We test all operating controls to ensure that the equipment cannot be started or operated while locked out. This step confirms that our lockout/tagout devices are correctly applied and cannot be tampered with.

Step 6

Conduct Maintenance

Maintenance or repair work is conducted as required, with all safety procedures in place. Our team ensures that the equipment remains in a safe condition throughout the maintenance process.

Step 7

Remove Lockout / Tagout Devices

Once maintenance is complete and all affected employees have been notified, we remove the lockout/tagout devices. Only the person who applied the lockout devices can remove them, ensuring proper control.

Step 8

Re-Energize Equipment

Finally, we re-energize the equipment and return it to service. This step includes verifying that the equipment is functioning correctly and safely before resuming normal operations.
